Description:
Tenders are invited for Greening the Digital Sector in South Africa This consultancy looks at the digital climate nexus in South Africa. Digital technologies are cross-cutting enablers of climate action, for example enabling early warning systems or enabling sector mitigation such as smart meters in the energy sector or green mobility solutions. The digital sector is, however, resource intensive and is dependent on stable and sufficient energy supply. Globally, the digital sector is also a small but significant source of GHG emissions that is expected to grow. The Digital Development practice is looking for a firm or consultant to develop a practitioner focused study on the green-digital nexus in South Africa and engage relevant stakeholders in the process. The purpose is to: · Identify key needs and opportunities for South Africa · Identify current barriers and opportunities to address these areas · Identify priority areas, modalities, and relevant stakeholders for potential follow up activities.
