- IFC is seeking the services of a consulting firm to support the City of Johannesburg with a situational review, analysis, and development of a strategic roadmap for solid waste management in the city. The assignment will cover historical and projected waste quantities, characteristics and composition; current waste collection, handling, treatment, and disposal activities and facilities; current plans and initiatives; the national and local regulatory framework; waste management tariffs and costs; existing or potential markets for materials / recyclables that can be recovered from the waste; and analysis of options for improved waste management. The assignment will also include waste sampling and testing to understand the quantity, composition, physical, and chemical characteristics of the solid waste for selected sites / areas.
