Description:
The International FinanceCorporation (IFC), a member of The World Bank Group (WBG or “Group”), facilitatesprivate sector investment in emerging markets. Through IFC-s advisoryofferings, it supports the higher education sector in their expansion throughinnovative initiatives in areas such as graduate employability and digitaltransformation. In South Africa specifically, IFC is managing a multi-yearSkills in South Africa project, which consists of various initiativesimplemented in collaboration with key stakeholders. One such stakeholder is theCouncil on Higher Education (CHE) as the main regulatory body for highereducation in South Africa, and IFC seeks to appoint a consultant to conductresearch as part of the collaboration.The partnership between IFC andCHE is envisioned to highlight existing gaps and additional opportunities toimprove student success and outcomes. It is expected that the results willprovide stronger context for interventions that will positively influence teaching& learning across the sector. To achieve these outcomes, IFC is seeking a Consultantor Consulting firm (“the consultant”) to conduct a student success explorative researchstudy as described in these Terms of Reference. The main objectives of the assignmentare to:(i) Understand and compare private higher educationinstitutions- understanding, approaches, and metrics to track student success;(ii) assess private higher education institutions- perspective,approaches, and metrics on graduate employability as part of student success;and (iii) make recommendations on future research andpolicy decisions to support student success including graduate employabilityacross the higher education sector in South Africa.
