- IFC seeks to engage a consulting firm to assist the Department of Electricity and Energy by undertaking the price competitiveness benchmarking that would be required to undergo any policy choices on minimum localization requirements in the tender documents for transmission infrastructure in South Africa. The primary objective of this assignment is to provide critical input into the Request for Proposals (RFP) and necessary tendering documents for the concessioning of the designated energy transmission lines. The primary objectives of the assignment are to:Benchmark prices of locally manufactured transmission components against international prices.Assess cost drivers in local manufacturing, including raw materials, labor, energy, logistics, and overheads.Evaluate the competitiveness of South African production in terms of price, quality, and supply reliability.Identify potential areas for cost reduction or efficiency improvement.
