Issue Date and Time: Sep 25, 2023 06:06 Closing Date and Time: Oct 02, 2023 23:59 The World Bank Seeks Assistance with Development of an Inner City Regeneration Strategy; Hinged on Climate Adaptation Principles for the City of Johannesburg . The City Wants to Demonstrate Bold Climate Adaptation Steps that can be Taken as Part of Regeneration Efforts and Instilled in Future Investments into the Inner City. This Includes Improvements in the Quality of Public Environment Upgrades; Such as Pedestrian Access and the Quality of Public Amenities within the Inner City. The Inner City Regeneration Strategy Needs to be Multi-Faceted with Redress Mechanisms for Vacant; Hijacked and Underutilized Buildings in the Inner-City and Propose Interventions to Catalyse Their Redevelopment along Climate Adaptation Principles. The Regeneration Strategy should Take Account of the Various Inner-City Plans Produced by the City in Recent Years and Current Efforts by the Private Sector. The City of Johannesburg Seeks to Tie the Inner City Regeneration Strategy to an Implementation Approach/Action Plan Together with Potential Funding and Financing Mechanism; Ensuring the Strategy Comes to Life. Whilst Significant Investments have Gone into the Inner-City in Recent Years; The Investment Needs to be Better Coordinated and Sustained over the Medium to Long Term in Order the Achieve Desired Impacts. The City has Ambitions to Transition towards a Green Inner City and Attract Related Green Finance; From a Wide Range of Development Institutions and Partners. This Project has the Potential to Direct Future Inner City Investment along Climate Resilient Principles; Achieving Positive Returns on Public Investment including Economic; Social and Environmental Co-Benefits . Additionally the City of Johannesburg is Seeking Assistance in Formulating a Viable Redevelopment Plan for the Lilian Ngoyi Precinct “the Precinct”. Beyond the Immediate Emergency Response that the City has Undertaken in the Aftermath of the 17 July Explosion; There is an Opportunity to Conceptualise and Implement a Redevelopment Plan for the Lillian Ngoyi Precinct to Transform the Area into a Sustainable Vibrant Space for the Community at Large. This Includes Catalysing Regeneration Climate Adaptation and Resilience Principles; Such as Partial Road Closures and Greening Certain Streets or Sections of Road within the Precinct; To be Linked to the City-S Carbon Monitoring Program. The Redevelopment of the Precinct will Build off Existing Plans and Proposed Interventions; Including the Lilian Ngoyi Transit Mall and the Proposed Inner City Transport District Plan. The City Wants to Rejuvenate the Lilian Ngoyi Precinct into a More Economically; Environmentally Vibrant and Sustainable Area for Local Commerce and Urban Resilience. The Wbg Reserves the Right to Publicly Disclose Contract Award Information, including but not Limited to, Name of Company Receiving the Award, Brief Description of Services, and Contract Award Amount, for Any Contract Award Valued over Us$250,000.
